Evangelia Spiliopoulou (1981) is a Greek artist who ‘landed’ in Manchester in 2009. Through her artistic work she questions the limits between physical and mental labour and how disciplined practices and working culture intersect with natural and physical processes. What is the difference in the drives between compulsive repetition and natural re-occurring frequencies in life and how technical production and reproduction might become the means to an end in modern life, tradition and consequently cultural development? The post –industrial environment of the English North West and Manchester in particular have provided so far the references to examine and intellectually possess the principles and idioms of working traditions and its effect in the modern human culture.
